Welcome
In recognition of the role of visual arts in the cultural future of the State of Illinois, the Office of the Governor, the Illinois Board of Higher Education, and the state higher education community are pleased to sponsor the 2007 Annual Collegiate Artist Competition. This is the fourth annual statewide, juried visual arts competition for undergraduate students.
The Annual Collegiate Artists Competition is designed
to showcase the talents and reward the efforts of outstanding
Illinois student artists from the broad mix of Illinois'
public and private, 2-year and 4-year colleges and universities.
Any undergraduate student enrolled in a minimum of
six credit hours per semester during the 2006-07 academic
year is invited to enter, regardless of major. There
is no entry fee.
Oakton Community College in Des Plaines will host the 2007 Competition and exhibit the artwork of the finalists at the Koehnline Art Museum. Finalists will each receive a modest honorarium to recognize their artistic achievement, and be eligible to compete for one of four $1,000 purchase awards.
The exhibition at the Koehnline Art Museum will be held from May 5 through June 21, 2007 with an opening reception and awards ceremony hosted by Oakton Community College to honor finalists and winners at the Gallery from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2007.
Students may compete in a variety of media in the visual
arts, including but not limited to painting, drawing,
photography, printmaking, fiber, sculpture, ceramics/glass,
and kinetics/electronic media.
