Planning & Budgeting >Governor's Action on FY 2008 Higher Education Budget

On August 23, 2007, Governor Blagojevich acted on House Bill 3866, the fiscal 2008 budget passed by the General Assembly.

The Governor signed the 2008 budget into law, while employing his veto authority to reduce or eliminate various line item appropriations, totaling $463 million.

The budget signed by the Governor totals $2.2 billion in general funds for operations and grants for higher education institutions and agencies, a reduction of $28.0 million from the budget approved by the General Assembly.

The link below is a detailed summary of the budget as enacted by the Governor. Reduction vetoes will stand unless overridden by both the House and the Senate. The remainder of the budget was enacted into law with the Governor’s signature.
