Budget and Fiscal Affairs:
The Board of Higher Education makes annual recommendations to the Governor and the General Assembly concerning the budgetary needs of colleges and universities for operations and capital improvements. The Board also collects and analyzes extensive financial data and publishes a number of annual reports on college and university spending.
Planning and Policy Development:
The Board of Higher Education analyzes the aims, needs, and requirements of Illinois higher education and undertakes policy initiatives, studies, and legislative action.
Information Systems:
The Board of Higher Education develops and maintains a State university and college information system to provide comprehensive, meaningful, and timely information pertinent to the formulation of decisions and recommendations by the Board.
