IBHE STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE SELECTS LEADERS

SPRINGFIELD – – Jerry Thor, a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has been elected as the new student member of the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE).

Thor was chosen by the Board’s Student Advisory Committee (SAC) to succeed Matthew DeRosa who will complete his term as the student representative at the IBHE June meeting in Springfield.

Having served as the alternate student board member for the IBHE the past year, Thor comes to his new position with perspective and experience to make a purposeful difference on behalf of students.

Ashley Dearborn was re-elected by SAC as the nontraditional student representative.

She is a graduate of Wilbur Wright College and is attending Northwestern University.

William Obuchowski has been elected to serve as the Student Advisory Council’s Executive Chair for the upcoming year. Obuchowski graduated with honors from Moraine Valley Community College in May, where he was the student speaker at graduation. He will attend Judson College in the fall.
