ANNUAL RENEWAL APPLICATION

Annual Renewal: All approved PBVS institutions must submit a renewal application each year following the issuance of a permit of approval other than the year the Permit of Approval – 5 Year Review is required.

ATTENTION

The annual renewal application must be submitted to the IBHE no later than April 15, 2013 in order to receive a response to the request for approval by June 30, 2013. Applications received after this date are not guaranteed a response by June 30, 2013. Please take note of this as Permit of Approvals will not be backdated to July 1, 2013 by the IBHE. This may negatively impact the school as it will not be considered an IBHE approved institution from July 1, 2013 until such time the Permit of Approval – Annual Renewal is granted.

Under the PBVS Act of 2012, an institution that has no physical presence in the State of Illinois is not required to obtain a permit of approval, including the annual renewal and five year review. Factors used to determine whether an institution has a physical presence in Illinois are listed in Section 1095.20, subsection d)6)A-F of 23 Ill. Adm. Code 1095. Institutions that are not required to obtain the permit of approval and need evidence of this may apply for an exemption if necessary. The exemption application is available at http://www.ibhe.org/PBVS/EXEMPTION.asp. The IBHE will not issue refunds to any school operating outside of Illinois that submits a renewal application and fee.

Application Instructions: The following links will open up the documents you need to complete and submit to IBHE to apply for the annual renewal. You can save the documents in one of two ways: either (1) right click and select “save link as” or (2) click on the link opening the document and then save the blank application files to your computer.

Once you complete all items, follow the instructions in the document “Application” under the “General Information” section that explains how to submit them as a package to the IBHE for consideration.

Note that fees are assessed for the review of applications. The fees were approved so that IBHE would have the staff to review applications and complete PBVS oversight activities. Payment of the fee does not guarantee approval of the annual renewal.
