The Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP) requires institutions to join the program, and as a result of institutional participation, states are opted in to the MSEP. Since no Illinois college or university is currently in the MSEP program, the state is considered an inactive member. The Illinois Board of Higher Education is working with the Midwest Student Exchange Program on policies and procedures for participation.
Illinois students who were already attending college through the Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP) in Academic Year 2021-2022 and prior will continue to receive those MSEP benefits for the duration of their pursuit of a degree as long as they continue to meet program requirements at the institution they attend.
