The College was institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). For accreditation questions, please contact ACICS at www.acics.org. The interior design program at the Chicago campus was programmatically accredited by the Council on Interior Design Accreditation (formerly known as the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research) from August 1983 to May 2013.
The International Academy of Merchandising and Design was founded in 1977 in Chicago. In 2001, the institution changed its name to the International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT). From July 2003 until November 2013, there was a second IADT campus location in Schaumburg. In March 2014, the institution was renamed Sanford-Brown College and the campus closed in June 2017. During its 40 years of operation, the institution offered programs in areas such as fashion design, fashion merchandising, interior design, visual communications (several tracks), including graphic design, computer forensics, and information technology.
