Each public college and university shall designate a Veteran Coordinator to be an ombudsperson serving the specific needs of student veterans and military personnel and their families and shall serve as an advocate before the administration of the college or university for the needs of student veterans. In addition to any responsibilities the college or university may assign, the Veteran Coordinator shall create a centralized source for student veterans and military personnel to learn how to receive all benefit programs and services for which they are eligible.
For information on Community College Veteran Coordinators, see the Illinois Community College Board's website:
Each year, IBHE communicates directly with all 60 public institutions to gather the data needed to annually produce the Higher Education Veterans Service Act Report. The report highlights the fiscal impact of programs and services dedicated to veterans at public institutions.
